Project Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Kaleidoscope Soul is preparing to reschedule and relaunch a grief and loss conference that was previously canceled due to violence and safety concerns in Minneapolis. The conference is intended to create a supportive, educational, and community-centered space for people experiencing transitions: grief and loss in its many forms. The student intern would assist with the planning and coordination of the rescheduled conference. Responsibilities may include reaching out to the venue and event logistics, assisting with speaker and presenter coordination, researching potential sponsors and community partners, supporting marketing and communications, organizing event information, assisting with registration planning, coordinating volunteers or vendors, and helping develop systems and timelines to keep the conference planning process organized.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Kaleidoscope Soul exists to create space and opportunities for people to connect, explore, and grow within themselves, with one another, and with the world around them.

3.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer Event planning and coordination Project management and organization Written and verbal communication Research skills Professional email and outreach Attention to detail Ability to manage timelines and multiple tasks Problem-solving and adaptability Community partnership and relationship-building skills Marketing and promotional skills are helpful Experience with spreadsheets, project-management tools, registration platforms, Canva, or similar tools is helpful but not required

4.

What are the learning objectives for this project

Answer By the end of the project, the student will gain practical experience in: Planning and coordinating a community-based conference Developing and maintaining an event timeline Researching and communicating with potential venues, speakers, sponsors, vendors, and community partners Developing professional communication and outreach skills Supporting event marketing and attendee communications Organizing information and managing multiple components of a large project Understanding the logistics involved in producing a community event Developing problem-solving and adaptability skills in response to changing event needs Learning how community organizations and small businesses can collaborate to address community needs

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer A flexible but consistent schedule is preferred, with availability for regular check-ins and project work throughout the conference planning period. The student should be able to dedicate an agreed-upon number of hours each week and communicate reliably regarding assignments and deadlines. Additional availability closer to the conference date may be helpful for final preparations and event-day support. Specific scheduling requirements will be determined based on the student's academic schedule and the conference timeline.

6.

Additional information (not required).

Answer Because the conference is being rescheduled after an unexpected cancellation, the student will have an opportunity to participate in the process of rebuilding and relaunching an existing project rather than simply maintaining an established event.
