Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Engage in a meaningful community engagement opportunity as a Classroom Assistant for the Girls Who Code club designed for elementary students in grades 3-5. This program empowers young girls to explore the exciting world of computer science through fun, interactive, and hands-on coding activities.

Answer This role is ideal for individuals passionate about promoting diversity in technology, fostering youth development, and supporting students' learning journeys. Through your involvement, you'll gain experience in mentoring, teamwork, and classroom facilitation while making a meaningful impact on the next generation of tech innovators.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the lead facilitator by: Helping students understand coding concepts and troubleshooting technical challenges Encouraging collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving in a supportive learning environment Assisting with classroom setup, materials distribution, and ensuring smooth transitions between activities Acting as a positive role model to inspire confidence and curiosity in STEM fields Create activities and small lessons for the program

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer What to Expect: Time Commitment: 30 hours (between prep and classroom time) Expected weekly on site at 5-7:30pm total of 15 hours Remote lesson plan and activity building additional 15 hours Club meetings this spring take place Tuesdays from 5:30-7pm on September 22 and 29 October 6, 13, 20, and 27
