Project Proposal Description

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Wizarding Academy is a youth enrichment day camp hosted by UW-Eau Claire - Barron County that provides engaging, hands-on learning experiences for children ages 8-15. The program uses a wizard-themed framework to spark curiosity and excitement about science, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. Student volunteers help create a safe, welcoming, and educational environment while addressing the need for affordable, high-quality youth programming that encourages learning, imagination, and positive mentorship.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of UW-Eau Claire - Barron County is to provide accessible educational opportunities, foster student success, and strengthen connections between the university and the surrounding community. Through programs like Wizarding Academy, the campus promotes lifelong learning, creativity, community engagement, and educational enrichment for local youth and families.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Students should be available to assist with event preparation before the camp, participate throughout the full day of Wizarding Academy, and help with event clean-up and tear-down afterward. Volunteers are expected to arrive on time, remain engaged for the duration of their assigned shift, and attend any required training or planning meetings prior to the event.

Answer Volunteers play a vital role in creating a memorable and meaningful experience for camp participants. Responsibilities may include helping with activity stations, assisting campers with projects, answering questions, facilitating group activities, supporting registration and logistics, and encouraging curiosity and exploration throughout the day. This project provides valuable hands-on experience in leadership, event management, youth engagement, and community service.
