Project Proposal Description

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program is an IRS initiative designed to support free tax preparation service for the underserved. UWEC has partnered with the IRS to produce tax returns for those who otherwise cannot afford them.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Our mission is to produce timely, accurate, and free tax returns for: People who generally make $69,000 or less Persons with disabilities and those with limited English skills.

3.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer The ability to effectively communicate with the general public is required. The desire to learn tax preparation and work within a team-based framework is needed.

4.

What are the learning objectives for this project

Answer Students will learn to effectively prepare standard tax returns and hone their soft skills by interacting with an underserved community.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Student must be available every Friday in March, and the first Friday in April, from 5-8PM. Each session will be hosted in the Davies Center.

6.

Answer No tax experience is required.
