Project Proposal Description

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer You will help by creating and maintaining a spreadsheet of Eau Claire businesses. The spreadsheet will include each business’s address, phone number, email, website and contact name. This information will be used for our MS Walk in March 2026 and will also be helpful for other future events. Having an organized and accurate contact list makes it easier for us to share information, ask for support, and stay connected with the community.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Our mission is to empower individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) to thrive by providing accessible, no-cost therapeutic movement and exercise services that enhance mental health and overall well-being while encouraging independence.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer Basic computer skills Ability to use Google Docs and Google Sheets Careful attention to detail when entering information Good organization skills

What are the learning objectives for this project

Answer You will play an important role in supporting our nonprofit’s daily work by building and maintaining a contact spreadsheet. Through this project, you will: Learn how our nonprofit works with the community and why organized information is so important. See how arts and nonprofit organizations use databases to track contacts, plan events, and raise support. Understand the role of community initiatives, including how art and wellness programs can positively impact health. Gain an introduction to fundraising basics and how strong community connections make events like our MS Walk possible. Build professional skills in organization, accuracy, and responsibility that will be valuable in your future career

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Work on your own schedule during the semester, with bi-weekly check-ins to review progress. We will use the Clockify app to track hours and project progress.

Answer Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disorder usually manifesting itself in the early 20’s. Almost one million people in the United States have MS, making it one of the most common causes of neurological disability among young adults (20’s-40’s) in North America. The prevalence of MS in Wisconsin is medium to high and there are an estimated 20,000 people in Wisconsin impacted by Multiple Sclerosis.
