Project Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Many people want to volunteer but don’t know where to start—especially students new to a city or community. The Ways to Connect platform helps bridge this gap by making it easier to locate the best websites for finding local volunteer opportunities. Volunteering Ambassadors will help spread the word on campus and in their communities about paths to volunteering. Ambassadors will share resources, direct others to trustworthy volunteer platforms, and act as guides for peers looking to get involved in their community through volunteerism. Ambassadors will help increase awareness and access to volunteerism on campus and locally —and we’ll help ambassadors build a plan that works for their interests.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Inspiring Service is dedicated to building strong volunteer communities by connecting individuals with meaningful opportunities to give back. Our mission is to empower volunteers and amplify the reach of local nonprofits by improving access to volunteer opportunities—especially through digital tools and platforms like Ways to Connect.

3.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer Students should have or be interested in learning skills in digital communication and outreach, an ability to communicate clearly and inclusively with peers, and comfort using simple web tools or social media platforms. Students should have a passion for service and a willingness to share resources with others. No prior experience is needed—support, templates, and training are provided.

4.

What are the learning objectives for this project?

Answer Students will: gain real-world experience in public outreach and volunteer engagement; strengthen their communication and research skills; learn about local volunteer infrastructure and nonprofit networks; build confidence as peer guides and community advocates; and contribute to a national platform that improves access to service across the U.S.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer The project is fully remote and flexible. Students should plan to spend approximately 1–3 hours per week, which may include posting resources, responding to questions, or sharing opportunities in online or campus spaces.

6.

Additional information (not required).

Answer Students are encouraged to tailor their activities to their interests—whether through social media, peer conversations, club presentations, or digital content sharing. They will be supported in creating a plan that fits their availability and communication style.
